Kent Commercial Life Jackets Showcased at the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary National ConferenceNational Commodore Nicholas Kerigan opened the 2010 Coast Guard Auxiliary National Conference at Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, AZ, held August 26-29, where the theme of the conference was "Leadership, Performance, and Readiness". Approximately 700 auxiliary members and active-duty Coast Guard men and women were in attendance throughout the week. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the largest volunteer marine safety organization in the world. It has been in existence for more than sixty years. Their motto is "A Proud Tradition, A Worthy Mission". The organization has grown to more than 30,000 members in the United States and its territories. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary members, all civilian volunteers, train as boat coxswains, boat crew members, aircraft pilots and observers, radio operators, cooks and in other roles to support the many various missions of the Coast Guard. In addition, the Auxiliarists participate in public education of boating safety, operations, and vessel examination. The public education program trains tens of thousands of boaters yearly in seamanship, piloting, rules of the road, and weather are just some of the topics. They conduct search and rescue missions in their own boats and support Coast Guard missions. In 2009, Auxiliary efforts resulted in 256 lives being saved, 4,351 persons being assisted, and $29.6 million dollars in property being saved. The Auxiliary fields over 5,000 watercraft and 200 aircraft and mans more than 2,641 radio stations throughout the United States. Absolute Outdoor personnel were in attendance at the Conference to display the KENT Commercial life jackets, in addition to ONYX boating and outdoor recreation products.
